Maura Thompson is a partner at Shillingtons LLP. Maura represents corporations and insurers in a wide variety of insurance defence matters including motor vehicle defence, fire loss subrogation, and SABS arbitrations and mediations. In addition, Maura represents numerous Children’s Aid Societies in Ontario with respect to abuse and negligence claims. She has developed a specialization in inter-insurer disputes and has appeared at numerous priority disputes and appeals. Maura has appeared before the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal for Ontario and various tribunals.
Maura completed her undergraduate degree at Queen’s University followed by her law degree at the University of Windsor and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1997.
Maura is a frequent speaker at legal industry programs. She is a member of the Canadian Defence Lawyers Association, the London Claims Association and The Advocates Society. Maura volunteers her time for the Child Advocacy Project and other organizations, including Crestview/Anago Third Party Rights Review Committee. She was a longstanding Trustee of the Middlesex Law Association and past president of the Women’s Law Association of Ontario – London Chapter.
